Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa, located in Seef, is currently seeking a skilled and passionate Commis 1 specializing in Pastry to join our culinary team. As a Commis 1 – Pastry, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality pastry items to meet the standards and expectations of our guests.

Commis 1 – Pastry Job Description


  1. Assist the Pastry Chef and Senior Pastry Cooks in preparing and baking a variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, and other sweet treats according to established recipes and standards.
  2. Measure and mix ingredients accurately, ensuring consistency and quality in all pastry products produced.
  3. Handle and operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, dough sheeters, and pastry molds.
  4. Prepare and assemble pastry components, such as doughs, batters, fillings, and frostings, following proper techniques and procedures.
  5. Monitor baking and cooking times, temperatures, and conditions to achieve optimal results and maintain product integrity.
  6. Decorate and garnish pastries and desserts creatively, using piping bags, spatulas, and other pastry tools to enhance presentation and appeal.
  7. Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen and workstations.
  8. Assist in inventory management and stock control, including receiving, storing, and rotating ingredients and supplies to minimize waste and spoilage.
  9. Collaborate with other kitchen staff and departments to coordinate pastry production schedules and fulfill guest orders in a timely manner.
  10. Follow proper portion control and serving guidelines to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction with pastry offerings.
  11. Uphold high standards of food quality, taste, and appearance, conducting regular taste tests and quality checks to uphold the hotel’s reputation for excellence.
  12. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance pastry-making skills and stay updated on industry trends and techniques.


  • Previous experience as a Commis or Pastry Cook in a hotel, restaurant, or bakery environment is preferred.
  • Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or a related field is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry production techniques, baking principles, and dessert presentation methods.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, with attention to detail and precision in measurements and techniques.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy trays or equipment, and perform repetitive tasks as required in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive work culture.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
  • Commitment to upholding hygiene and safety standards in food handling, storage, and preparation, in compliance with local regulations and best practices.
