TRADER VIC’S WORLDWIDE has a long history of success and invention, beginning in 1934 with Vic “The Trader” Bergeron’s establishment of Hinky Dinks on San Pablo Avenue in Oakland, California.
The Trader converted Hinky Dinks into a tiki-bedecked tropical refuge suitably dubbed Trader Vic’s and put his rum research into practise after embarking on an expedition to Cuba to perfect his bartending abilities and discover the intricacies of rums from around the world. Vic started offering simmering dishes of island-style cuisine years ahead of his time, and Trader Vic’s swiftly became one of America’s first fusion restaurant concepts.
